After making their first batch of bitters and tasting how much better they were than what they were used to, they set about making what they considered the perfect bitters for an Old Fashioned. These bitters are full of baking spices like ginger, cinnamon, and allspice to bring out the spice in a rye-based whiskey and balanced with an earthy bitterness that will make your drinks more interesting.

The Bitter Housewife believes that making things from scratch produces better results than store bought and set out to create a product that spoke to women in an intelligent way, something that didn’t intimidate or exclude the novice, but also didn’t talk down to anyone. All of their bitters are made by hand in small batches using real ingredients - fresh citrus peels, whole herbs and spices, and just a touch of organic cane sugar.
